tie rod end
The tie rod end is a linkage in the steering system of automobiles, linking the tie rod and steering knuckle. Its main role is to relay the movement from the tie rod to the steering knuckle which then allows the wheels to turn left or right as instructed by the driver. A strong construction capable of both tension and compression, a threaded stud for adjustability and a grease fitting for lubrication to reduce wear are all benefits owed by the tie rod end. Tie rod ends are used in anything from passenger cars to heavy-duty trucks and numerous types of industrial machinery, making them an integral (albeit not particularly interesting) part of smooth and accurate steering control devices.
